…the idea that, er, we have to slow down or destroy the economy to, to save the planet is a, a ridiculous dichotomy. Quite clearly if we destroy the environment completely we’ll have no en-economy to speak of. So it’s not a binary choice. In fact I would say we only have the one choice. If, we don’t, er, have a sustainable economic system then there will be no economic future.

And it needs coordinated action and, along with that, cultural change― people need to be thinking about how much plastic they are personally consuming, and whether they really need to be accepting that plastic bag at the cash register. So, governments need to have ― play a role, but they also need to be educating the general public about the importance of the issue.
